Traditional groynes completely cut off the littoral sand supply moving down the beach. The result of a traditional groin is updrift impoundment of sand with downdrift erosion. Other traditional groynes are cumbersome and costly to install and remove. NuShore allows sand to flow straight through, unlike other wooden and pile porous groynes, thus eliminating the challenges of traditional groynes.
